Top Summer Time Products for the Family

Summer time is upon us and it. is. hot! The sun is shining down and giving us all the vitamin D we need. If your family loves being outdoors in the summer, like ours, then check out my favorite summertime products.

Between swimming, hiking, and family gatherings, summer essentials are key to keeping everyone happy and healthy. The products below help keep our skin protected and clean while others keep us cool.

Just to note, I am no expert on organic or chemical free. However, I do try to find the best chemical free and organic products for the best price for my family. I’m not perfect, but I try to limit the amount of chemicals we use.

I also only recommend products that I currently use or have used with my own family.

So, without further ado, here are my top summertime products for the kids:

So Cozy Swim 3-in-1 Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash

This stuff is amazing. Every summer my kids participate in swim teams, so they are in the pool four days a week for an hour each day. I started using So Cozy Swim 3-in-1 three years ago and I purchase it every summer.

Free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, and no synthetic colors or dyes.

The company claims this wash removes salt and chlorine by using activated charcoal. It cleans and repairs damage from the pool chemicals, the sun, and or saltwater.

My kids can feel a difference when they use this wash, and we use it all summer long. Plus it smells great.

Australian Gold Botanical Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50

I absolutely love this sunscreen. I use this on the whole family. It is 100% mineral sunscreen. According to the manufacturer, mineral sunscreen works by blocking the sun’s UV rays. All I can say is that we live in an area where temperatures reach 115 degrees during our summer months and this stuff works (I do re-apply every two hours when it is extremely hot).

We were out in the pool with friends the other day for about three hours. I had applied this before we left the house and didn’t re-apply the whole time we were out. I didn’t get even a hint of a sunburn which is unusual. To give reference, it was 105 degrees that afternoon.

Banana Boat Sport Sunscreen Stick SPF 50

This one I keep on hand for busy days. The kids can glide it on with ease and be on their way. I chose this one based on Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) Sunscreen Guide. It was listed as a 2, meaning low hazard, and it was affordable. We are always working on the budget over here!

Outdoor Research Women’s Oasis Sun Hat

When we are outside, I’m either in a baseball cap or the Outdoor Research Oasis Sun Hat. It has an SPF of 50+, the drawstring to keep it on your noggin, dries quickly, and is water-resistant. I use mine hiking, at the playground, at the beach, on the lake, just wherever we are. It stays on well and keeps my face hidden from the sun.

RTIC Stainless Steel Water Bottle

My absolute favorite water bottle! Each member of our family has an RTIC water bottle and they work incredibly well. They are stainless steel, easy to wash, and durable. We load ours up with ice and water before we leave in the morning and the water inside is still ice cold 6, 7, 8 hours later. Remember I live in an extremely hot climate, and these water bottles still manage to keep the water cold.

Portable Water Spray Fan

We have a portable spray fan that we take to outdoor events. It combines a mist with the air flow from the fan to create a cool, misty breeze when there is none. We wouldn’t survive summer activities without this.

I hope these summertime products help you family have a totally awesome break! Let me know in the comments what your favorite summertime products are, I love suggestions on fun in the sun products. If you are in need of new board games or fun, family nights for the summer break, I’ve got both for you!

Have a totally rad summer and thanks for reading!
